Our Mission & Impact
Bengal Club of Atlantic City, NJ
Stronger Together
Who We Are
Bengal Club of Atlantic City, NJ is a nonprofit community organization established in 2000. We serve the Bangladeshi and South Asian community through cultural connection, sports, community programs, and practical support. Our goal is simple: help people feel included, supported, and stress-free—while building a stronger, happier community.
⸻
Our Mission
To strengthen community wellbeing through cultural connection, practical assistance, and service—so families feel supported, united, and empowered in everyday life.
Our Vision
A community where no one feels alone in hardship—where families can access guidance, care, and a trusted support network, and where dignity is protected during life’s most difficult moments.
⸻
What We Do (Our Work in 3 Steps)
Step 1: Preserve Culture & Build Belonging
We organize programs that keep our heritage alive and bring families together—because a connected community is a healthier community.
• Annual Boishakhi Mela
• Cultural gatherings and community celebrations
• Sports and social activities that reduce isolation and stress
Step 2: Honor Our Roots & Inspire the Next Generation
We celebrate our identity and teach the next generation respect for freedom, history, and community responsibility.
• Honoring Bangladesh Freedom Fighters with recognition/crests
• Heritage-focused events and community education
Step 3: Deliver Real Support That Improves Lives
We focus on practical needs that make everyday life easier—especially for seniors, new immigrants, and low-income families.
• Helping community members navigate essential services (applications, forms, referrals)
• Building a volunteer network for confidential, respectful support
• Emergency support coordination when families face hardship
⸻
Community Reach & Impact (Numbers That Matter)
Our programs serve the community at a meaningful scale:
• Boishakhi Mela: approximately 1,200–1,500 attendees each year
• Community Picnic: approximately 300–400 attendees
• We have honored 11 Bangladesh Freedom Fighters with recognition/crests
⸻
How We Fund Our Work (Community-Led Support Model)
We do not operate with a fixed annual budget. Our work is powered by volunteers and community members who contribute directly when there is a need.
What this looks like in practice
• When someone becomes seriously ill, we collect support within our network and coordinate help quickly and respectfully.
• When a community member passes away, we come together to collect what’s needed and support the family during a difficult time.
This grassroots model allows us to respond fast and keep support personal, dignified, and community-centered.
⸻
Future Initiative: Emergency Support & Dignity Fund (Goal)
To make support more consistent and faster, we aim to build a dedicated Emergency & Dignity Fund in the future—so assistance doesn’t depend only on last-minute collections. This fund will help us support low-income and vulnerable families during:
• medical emergencies and urgent needs
• end-of-life support with dignity and respect across faiths (burial/rites assistance)
⸻
Transparency & Approval Process
To ensure accountability and trust, we follow a clear internal process for community support and emergency assistance.
1. Committee Notification: Every case is shared with all Executive Committee members so everyone stays informed.
2. Verification & Recommendation: A quick review confirms the need while respecting privacy.
3. Authorization: Financial assistance is confirmed through three officer sign-off: President, Secretary General, and Treasurer.
4. Record Keeping: Each case is logged (date, purpose, amount, method of payment/collection) without sensitive personal details.
⸻
Our Values
• Service with dignity
• Unity beyond differences
• Respect for all faiths and backgrounds
• Volunteer-driven impact
• Transparency and accountability
• Stronger together, always
⸻
Partnerships & Support
We welcome partnerships and funding support to expand our outreach, strengthen our volunteer capacity, and grow our community assistance programs. Our intention is clear: meaningful service that improves lives and builds a healthier, happier community.
